Five AppSumo lifetime deals named as Monday.com alternatives, from $49 to $109, with the limits and gaps that matter and who each one suits.

SelfManager.ai takes 2 rounds, SmartTask takes 4.

Say it’s Friday and an invoice is due. One of these tools helps you work out what you actually did all month. The other helps you run the client job, send the bill and keep the client out of your inbox. Both are $49 lifetime deals on AppSumo, both are pitched against tools like ClickUp, and they’re still very different purchases.

We haven’t used either one. Everything here comes from the listings, which are marketing copy, so we’ll point out where they go quiet.
SelfManager.ai is organized by date. Each day is its own workspace, with unlimited tables for tasks, notes, comments and reference images. You don’t create a project first. Tasks carry a priority, a completion status and time spent.
SmartTask is organized by project. The listing shows list, board, calendar, timeline and gallery views, dashboards, dependencies, subtasks, milestones and a critical path view. On top of that it adds a sales CRM, a client portal and a workflows engine.
So the first decision is about how you think, not about features. If you plan by the day and want a record you can look back on, SelfManager.ai fits. If you plan by client and deliverable, SmartTask does. Be honest about which one you are.
The draw is AI that sits on top of your own history. AI Review reads your recorded tasks, statuses and logged time across a week, month, quarter or custom period. It then summarizes completed work, open tasks and possible blockers. You can ask follow-ups such as where your time went or what to focus on next.
AI Plan works in the other direction. You give it a plain-English goal and a window of 1 to 31 days, and it drafts one table per day with up to 20 tasks in each. Nothing is saved until you’ve reviewed it, and you can delete tasks or skip whole days. That edit step matters, because generated plans tend to look tidier than real weeks.
There’s also a notes-to-tasks feature for turning a pasted brief into a task list, plus voice dictation and read-aloud. They sound handy. The listing shows no sample output, though, so we can’t say how good the results are.
The review is only as good as what you feed it. If you never log time or mark tasks done, there’s little for it to read. Think of it as a payoff for steady habits.
One real gap: work that runs for months doesn’t naturally sit on a single date. The listing doesn’t explain how long-running projects are tracked across days, or whether unfinished tasks roll forward. If your week is mostly recurring client deliverables, get that answered first.

Anything that touches a client. SmartTask lists a client portal with controlled visibility, and you can mark projects, tasks or comments private so clients only see what you choose. Guests are unlimited and free, and you can annotate on video, images and PDFs. SelfManager.ai’s listing doesn’t mention a client portal or any way to share work with clients.
Then there’s the money side. The SmartTask FAQ describes time entries, timesheets, billable and cost rates, locked approved time and budgets that track profitability per project. If you bill by the hour or need to know whether a fixed-price job paid off, that’s the difference between knowing and guessing. SelfManager.ai tracks time spent on tasks, but the listing mentions no rates or budgets.
The pipeline is a smaller bonus. You track deals by stage, send and receive email inside the app, and convert a won deal straight into a project. The integrations list is also far longer: Slack, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Zapier, WhatsApp and others. SelfManager.ai’s listing names no integrations at all, which may just be an omission, but you shouldn’t assume.
A caution on SmartTask. It covers a lot of ground, there’s no product video for the deal, and the project management feature section ends with an empty bullet. Wide products at this price often do some parts better than others, and the listing can’t tell us which.
The deal terms match. Each has one tier at $49, a 60-day redemption window, all future plan updates, and no stacking. The list prices of $216 and $432 are just marketing anchors, so ignore them.
SmartTask’s limits are at least written down. You get 2 seats, so a solo operator with a partner is fine and a team of five isn’t. Workflows and AI agents draw on 1,000 non-recurring credits that don’t expire and don’t refill. More can be bought, but no price is given, and the listing doesn’t say what one workflow run costs. It also mentions a Free Forever plan, which is a good reason to try the core product before paying.
SelfManager.ai is vaguer where it counts. Planning, review, chat, notes-to-tasks and voice all use credits. The listing never says how many the lifetime tier includes, whether they reset, or what happens when they run out. For a product sold on its AI, that’s the biggest hole in either listing. It also mentions a Team plan at a flat $30 a month for unlimited collaborators, but doesn’t say whether the lifetime deal covers collaboration.
On track record, SelfManager.ai says development began in 2016 and it launched publicly in 2022. It moved to a new domain and a v4 redesign in 2026. That history is the seller’s own claim, and a fresh redesign could mean rough edges.
Buy SelfManager.ai if you’re a solo consultant or freelancer whose clients never see your task list. You want a private record of your days and an AI that can tell you where the month went. You can live without boards, portals and integrations.
Buy SmartTask if clients are part of the workflow. You want them looking at a portal instead of emailing you for updates, and you want time, billing and a basic pipeline in the same place. Keep the 2-seat cap in mind, and don’t count on heavy automation from 1,000 credits until you know what each run costs.
Here’s a simple test. Would you ever show this tool to a client? If yes, SmartTask is the only one of the two that lists the pieces for it. If your task list is strictly for you, SelfManager.ai’s date-first idea is the more focused option.

Whichever you pick, do two things before checking out. Ask the seller for the credit details, especially for SelfManager.ai. And confirm the refund terms on the AppSumo page, because neither listing states them.
Yes. Both are a single lifetime tier at $49, with a 60-day redemption window, future plan updates, and no stacking. The list prices differ ($216 and $432), but those figures don't change what you pay.
SmartTask, on the listing evidence. It has a client portal, private tasks and comments, unlimited free guests, time tracking, billing rates and a deal pipeline. SelfManager.ai's listing mentions none of those.
SmartTask says 1,000 non-recurring credits that don't expire, used by workflows and AI agents. SelfManager.ai says its AI features use credits but doesn't state an allowance, so ask before buying.
