Picture a small online shop where you keep typing the same answers about shipping and returns. Now picture a small agency whose three clients keep asking who is actually replying to their customers’ emails. Both are support problems, and both of these lifetime deals show up when you search for an Intercom alternative. They solve different problems, though, and mixing them up is the quickest way to waste money here.

ChatInCart and Sonny: White-Label Helpdesk side by side

A quick note first. We haven’t used either tool, and neither listing comes with a demo video. Everything below is a read of the AppSumo listings, gaps included.

Two tools, two buyers

ChatInCart is an AI chat widget for your own site. You train it on your content, embed it, and let it field repeat questions. A person can jump into any conversation when the bot shouldn’t answer. It starts at $45, against a listed $144.

Sonny is a helpdesk you resell. Each client gets a workspace with its own inbox, contacts, team and settings, and you run all of them from one agency account. It costs $149 against a listed $720, with unlimited workspaces and agents.

So the first decision isn’t about features. Ask who the customers are. If they’re yours, most of what makes Sonny interesting will sit unused. If they belong to your clients, ChatInCart doesn’t appear to have the structure for it.

Price and tier limits

Sonny keeps this simple. One tier, $149, with unlimited client workspaces, agents, team members, conversations and chat history. The catches are that the deal doesn’t stack and you must redeem within 60 days. AppSumo also lists a 60-day money-back guarantee.

ChatInCart has three tiers at $45, $100 and $150. Each has lifetime access, future plan updates and a 60-day activation window, and you can move between tiers. That flexibility is the good part.

The feature table is the problem. Agents per workspace read 3, 5 and 1. Messages per month read 20,000, 10,000 and 1,000. Data sources read 5, 10 and 15. Storage per agent reads 500 MB, 250 MB and 50 MB. None of those rise with price in any tidy order, and the listing never matches columns to prices. It could be a formatting slip or a muddled plan design, and we can’t tell which from here.

The message caps deserve attention even at the generous end. 1,000 a month is thin for a busy store, and the listing doesn’t say what happens when you go over. Check the checkout page before you pay.

What ChatInCart does well

The training options are its strongest card. You can scan a site and pick which pages to include, which helps if old blog posts or outdated policy pages would otherwise get quoted. You can also upload PDFs, Word files, Excel or CSV files, add images and plain text, and write Q&A pairs for the answers you never want reworded.

The inbox is sensible. Every conversation sits in one place, searchable by customer name or email. Each chat is marked as AI or human, and you can reply yourself and hand it back to the bot with one click.

There’s also a ChatGPT-style portal on your own subdomain, handy if you have no help center and just want a link to send people. The listing mentions only your own name and colors there, so don’t promise anyone a fully white-labeled experience until you’ve seen it.

One claim deserves a raised eyebrow. The listing FAQ says the AI answers with no hallucinations, and nothing explains how that’s ensured. Throw awkward questions at it before real customers do.

What Sonny does well

The white label goes well past a logo swap. According to the listing, your name, logo, icon and colors carry through the dashboard, sign-in, invitations, notification emails, live chat, the help center and the MCP sign-in screen, with Sonny branding removed. You set it per workspace, so you can use your own brand or match each client’s.

Each workspace gets one custom app domain, such as support.client.com, and clients can install a branded web app on phones and desktops. The iOS App Store app stays Sonny-branded, so that’s the ceiling on mobile.

You also get a REST API, webhooks, branded CSAT surveys, internal notes, @mentions, saved replies and a dashboard in 13 languages. How detailed the reporting is isn’t described, so assume basic until you see it.

Setup takes real effort. You need DNS access for the app domain plus email verification records, and a client whose DNS sits with a forgotten registrar could mean several rounds of emails. Sonny also doesn’t bill your clients for you. Pricing and margin are yours to work out.

Gaps that should worry you

On the ChatInCart side, the listing is silent on alerts when a chat needs a human, on automatic escalation, on what each integration actually does, and on ticketing. Integrations are switched off on one tier and custom API actions are on for only one. If actions are your reason to buy, the cheapest plan may not deliver. And there are no reviews in the data we have, so no outside voice at all.

Sonny’s limit is its channel list. There’s no native WhatsApp, SMS or social inbox, no native Shopify app, and no direct SMTP or IMAP connection. You forward email and paste a chat snippet. Gmail, Outlook, Shopify and WordPress appear in the integrations list, but that means forwarding and a script, not deep connections.

AI is the other soft spot. It’s a paid add-on per workspace, and the listing gives no price for the managed plan. With bring-your-own-key, the provider bills your key. If AI answers are part of what you’d sell clients, that missing number matters more than the $149.

Sonny does have six AppSumo reviews averaging 5.0, and the summary admits some buyers see it as still evolving. Six is a small sample. Both products look young, so a lifetime deal carries the usual risk that the company isn’t around in a few years.

Which one to buy

Buy ChatInCart if the job is answering your own customers’ repeat questions on your own site, you want AI to take the first pass, and you’re ready to test the bot hard before trusting it. Pick the tier by checking real limits at checkout. Expect to read conversations yourself, since the dashboard shows usage rather than answer quality.

Buy Sonny if you’re an agency, consultant or freelancer whose clients mostly live on email and a website chat widget. Unlimited seats are what make $149 worthwhile, and the refund window is long enough to put one real client domain through setup.

Skip Sonny if you only need a helpdesk for your own business, or if your customers reach you on WhatsApp, SMS or Instagram. Skip ChatInCart if you need ticketing, team routing or a product with a visible track record.

Who should pick ChatInCart or Sonny: White-Label Helpdesk

If you honestly fit both descriptions, start with the one that matches who pays you. Run your own FAQ through ChatInCart, or set up one client on Sonny, and use the refund window to find out which listing told the truth.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use ChatInCart to run support for my clients?

The listing doesn't say. It describes agents inside a workspace, a portal with your own name and colors, and no client roles or per-client billing. Sonny is the one designed for that job.

Does Sonny include AI answers in the $149 price?

No. AI reply drafts and automatic answers are an optional add-on bought per workspace, either as a managed plan or with your own provider key. The listing doesn't state what the managed plan costs.

Which tier of ChatInCart should I buy?

The listing doesn't make it clear. Prices are $45, $100 and $150, but the limits (1,000 to 20,000 messages a month, 1 to 5 agents) don't line up with price in order. Confirm at checkout what each tier gives you, and note that custom API actions appear on only one tier.
