You’ve got a list of prospects, a product that needs to send password resets, and maybe a newsletter you keep meaning to start. Both of these lifetime deals start at $49, both mention cold outreach and transactional email, and both want you to commit before you’ve seen much of the interface. They aren’t the same kind of tool, though.

Mails.now and Utobo Email side by side

Two $49 deals, two different jobs

Mails.now is an API-first control layer for outbound email. It provisions domains and mailboxes, runs a multi-sender sequencer, reports analytics, and handles transactional sends, all reachable by REST API. The listing targets developers, agencies and SaaS teams.

Utobo Email is pitched as one platform for four jobs: transactional email from your app, broadcast campaigns and newsletters, drip automation, and cold outreach. All four share one contact list. It is aimed at solo founders and small teams who are tired of paying for separate tools.

That’s the real split. Mails.now goes deep on outbound infrastructure. Utobo goes wide.

Who actually does the sending

This is the line that decides it for a lot of buyers. Mails.now says plainly that it provides no SMTP. You must connect your own relay such as Amazon SES, Mailgun, Postmark, Google Workspace, Gmail or Microsoft 365, and you add the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records yourself. So the $49 buys you the control layer, and the sending bill lives somewhere else.

Utobo’s listing describes a REST API and an SMTP relay for transactional mail, plus monthly email limits that count API, broadcast, automation and cold sends. That reads like a product that does the sending for you, although the listing never says it in so many words. Its cold outreach side still uses your own Gmail, Outlook or IMAP/SMTP mailboxes, so you aren’t free of mailbox costs there either.

If you already pay for SES or Workspace seats, Mails.now’s approach costs you little extra. If you don’t, Utobo is the simpler path.

Entry-tier limits side by side

Both listings are a little awkward here. Mails.now gives its plan numbers as a row of four values without labelling tiers, and the review we’re working from reads the smallest values as the $49 tier. That is an inference, so check the checkout page. Utobo’s numbers run highest to lowest, and its FAQ confirms the mailbox counts of 3, 10 and 25.

At $49, on that reading, here is what you get:

  • Mails.now: 10 sender domains, 20 mailboxes, 5,000 leads, 100,000 one-time send credits, 3,000 transactional emails per month.
  • Utobo Email: 10 custom domains, 3 cold-outreach mailboxes, 5,000 contacts, 5,000 emails per month, 3 sequences, 1 team member, 100 free B2B leads per month.

Mails.now clearly wins on mailbox count, which matters if your plan is to spread outreach across many inboxes. Utobo’s 3 mailboxes is thin for that.

The volume models differ too. Utobo’s 5,000 emails reset every month. Mails.now’s 100,000 credits are one-time, and the listing doesn’t say what happens when they run out or whether you can buy more. A finite pool is fine for a while, but it isn’t a monthly allowance.

Features that matter day to day

Mails.now covers CSV imports, static lists, colored tags, one-click audience enrollment and analytics by mailbox, step and domain. Webhooks cover events like sequencer.lead.replied, and the MCP tools suggest you could drive it from an AI assistant. The listing says nothing about warm-up, templates, forms or a newsletter editor. If you wanted Mailchimp-style broadcasts, this isn’t it.

Utobo has a longer feature list. There’s an AI email writer powered by Google Gemini, ready-made templates, a drag-and-drop builder with a spam-risk score, and HTML templates if you’d rather code your own. Cold outreach includes automatic warm-up, sequences that stop on reply, and a unified inbox. Official SDKs cover Node.js, Python, Go and Ruby.

Utobo also promises “no surprise suspensions”, meaning it keeps you sending at reduced capacity instead of cutting you off. That’s an appealing idea, but the listing gives no detail on how reduced the capacity gets, so treat it as a promise rather than a feature you can plan around.

On proof, Utobo has 7 AppSumo reviews averaging 4.86 out of 5. Seven is a small number, and AppSumo’s own summary of them is marketing copy, though it does mention limited onboarding guidance. Its demo video is a founder introduction with no walkthrough of the interface. Mails.now’s listing shows no reviews at all, and we have not tested either product hands-on.

Price tiers and what to check first

Mails.now runs $49, $98, $147 and $196, with list prices crossed out from $299 to $1,196. Limits rise roughly in line with price, so there’s no bulk discount. You can stack up to 4 codes, and you must redeem within 60 days.

Utobo has three tiers at $49, $129 and $229 according to its plan listing, although the review text we have shows $119 and $219 for the upper two, so confirm the numbers at checkout. You can move between tiers, there’s no code stacking, and the 60-day activation window applies. The top tier gives 25,000 emails, 25,000 contacts, 25 mailboxes, unlimited sequences and 5 seats.

One more thing. The Utobo listing shows a deal end date of 2026-10-28, which has already passed as of today. Check the page to see whether the deal is still on sale before you plan around it.

Neither listing offers company history or a roadmap, and a lifetime deal depends on the vendor surviving. Utobo describes itself as a young product, and Mails.now says nothing either way.

Which one to pick

Pick Mails.now if you’re technical, already have a sending provider, and want to create domains and mailboxes in bulk and run sequences from an API. Ask the team how mailbox creation works given the no-SMTP rule, since the listing doesn’t explain it.

Who should pick Mails.now or Utobo Email

Pick Utobo Email if you want one login for product emails, newsletters, drip campaigns and a modest amount of cold outreach, and your volume stays under a few thousand sends a month. Don’t pick it for heavy multi-inbox outbound at the entry tier, and don’t expect proof of inbox placement from either listing.

Frequently asked questions

Does Mails.now send emails by itself?

No. The listing says it has no internal SMTP, so you connect Amazon SES, Mailgun, Postmark, Google Workspace, Gmail or Microsoft 365 and pay for that separately.

Which one is better for cold outreach?

On paper Mails.now allows more mailboxes at the $49 tier (20 versus 3), but Utobo lists automatic warm-up and a unified reply inbox. Neither listing shows deliverability data.

Are the limits monthly or one-time?

Utobo's 5,000 to 25,000 emails apply per month. Mails.now's send credits (100,000 to 400,000) are one-time, and the listing doesn't say what happens when they run out.
