Our take: Zaprep suits creators and small agencies who already sell through Instagram comments and DMs and want a cheap ManyChat-style tool. Skip it if you need TikTok or YouTube today, want proven reliability from an older product, or plan to run high DM volume on the lower tiers.

What we like

  • Comment-to-DM keyword triggers with post-level scoping for Instagram and Facebook Pages
  • Lifetime price starts at $39 and covers a link in bio page and media kit
  • Uses Meta's official Graph API, not scraping, according to the listing
  • Claude MCP access is included on every plan, including Free

Watch out for

  • Only Instagram and Facebook today; TikTok and YouTube are roadmap items
  • AI reply and contact caps are modest on the lower tiers, and the listing's feature grid looks inconsistent
  • Young product with no demo video or track record in the listing

Someone comments LINK under your Reel at nine in the evening. By the time you wake up, they’ve scrolled on, and the guide you wanted them to download has one fewer reader. If you sell anything through Instagram, you know this leak well.

Zaprep - Social on Steroids product screen

Zaprep is built to plug it. It watches comments for a keyword you choose and sends the commenter a DM automatically. It’s the same job ManyChat does, wrapped with a link in bio page and a media kit, and sold on AppSumo as a lifetime deal starting at $39.

We haven’t used it. What follows is based on the AppSumo listing, which is marketing copy, so we’ll flag where it’s vague.

What comment-to-DM actually covers

The core feature is keyword triggers. You pick words like LINK, PRICE or GUIDE, and each one can fire a different DM for a different offer. You can also scope an automation to a specific post, so a comment on your coaching Reel doesn’t send the discount code meant for your product launch.

It also replies to Instagram story replies and reactions, which is a nice touch if your audience mostly responds through stories. Facebook Pages are supported too, including Pages owned by a Business Portfolio. On a Page, Zaprep replies to post comments and sends Messenger DMs from your keywords.

There’s a split to know about. Follow Gate, which makes someone follow your account before they receive the DM, and story replies are Instagram-only. Facebook Pages don’t get them.

You’ll also need a Business or Creator Instagram account. Personal accounts don’t work, because Meta’s Messaging API doesn’t allow it. Switching is free, but check how that changes your account before you commit.

AI replies and the shared inbox

The second pillar is AI replies to incoming DMs. You choose a tone (Professional, Friendly or Funny) and set rules the AI must always follow, such as never inventing prices. That rule matters. An AI that makes up a price in your DMs is worse than no AI at all.

You can reply instantly or set a wait time first, which helps if instant answers feel robotic to your audience. Every DM from every connected account lands in one inbox, and you can share accounts, automations and the inbox with teammates.

The listing doesn’t say which AI model powers the replies, or how well it handles messy real conversations. With no demo video available, we can’t judge quality. Treat it as a feature to test during your refund window, not one to count on.

There’s also a Claude integration. You can connect Claude Desktop or claude.ai in four steps and create or manage automations by asking in plain English. MCP access is included on every plan, even Free. It’s a clever extra for people already living in Claude, but we’d call it a convenience, not a reason to buy.

Zaprep - Social on Steroids features at a glance

Zaprep also gives you a shareable bio page with your photo, socials and links, plus click tracking on each link. That’s the Linktree comparison the listing makes. If you already pay for a link page, folding it into the tool that handles your DMs saves a subscription.

The media kit is more interesting for creators. It turns your Instagram stats into a one-page kit showing engagement rate, audience breakdown and your rate card, with a Work with me button for brand inquiries. If you pitch brands, that saves you building a PDF in a design tool every quarter.

The listing gives no detail on customization, so we can’t say how polished either page looks.

The tiers, and the caps that matter

There are four lifetime tiers, each a one-time payment:

  • Tier 1, $39: 5,000 active contacts a month, 2 social accounts, 1 team member, 150 AI replies a month, standard inbox.
  • Tier 2, $89: 15,000 contacts, 5 accounts, 3 team members, 500 AI replies, unified inbox.
  • Tier 3, $179: 30,000 contacts, 10 accounts, 6 team members, 1,500 AI replies, unified inbox.
  • Tier 4, $349: 60,000 contacts, 15 accounts, 10 team members, 3,000 AI replies, unified inbox.

An active contact is a unique person your automations message in a calendar month, and messaging the same person repeatedly counts once. That’s a fairer way to count than per message.

The AI reply cap is the one to watch. 150 a month on tier 1 disappears fast if you get a few busy days. If AI replies are your main reason to buy, tier 1 will feel tight.

Overage is only partly explained. On Free and Solo, automations stop sending new DMs once you hit the limit. On Growth, extra usage costs $0.99 per 1,000 DMs. The listing doesn’t say how this maps onto the four lifetime tiers, or what happens on the top one.

The feature grid also looks off. Tiers 1 to 3 show no Zaprep branding, email collection and (for the first two) priority support. Tier 4, the most expensive, shows false for all three. That could be a listing error, or it could be real. Ask before you spend $349 on it.

You can switch between tiers, and you must activate your license within 60 days of purchase. The listing promises all future plan updates, but this is a young product, and a lifetime deal is only worth what the company does with it over the years.

Who should skip it

Skip it if your audience lives on TikTok or YouTube. Both are on the roadmap, and roadmap items are promises, not features.

Skip it if you need a mature, battle-tested automation platform. ManyChat has years of use behind it, and Zaprep has a listing and a price tag. Also skip it if you run on a personal Instagram account and don’t want to switch.

Zaprep - Social on Steroids price and limits

It makes the most sense for a solo creator or small agency that sells through Instagram comments, has outgrown manual replies, and wants a low-risk way to try keyword automation. Start at tier 1, check the AI replies and the inbox against your real traffic, and move up only if the caps pinch.

Frequently asked questions

Does Zaprep work with personal Instagram accounts?

No. The listing says you need an Instagram Business or Creator account, because Meta's Messaging API doesn't support personal accounts. Switching is free. Facebook Pages you manage also work.

What happens if I hit my monthly contact limit?

On Free and Solo, automations stop sending new DMs until the month resets or you upgrade. On Growth, extra usage costs $0.99 per 1,000 DMs. The listing doesn't say how overage works on the top tier.

Which lifetime tier should I buy?

Tier 1 at $39 gives you 5,000 active contacts, 2 social accounts and 150 AI replies a month, which is enough to test the idea on one or two accounts. Agencies managing client accounts will need tier 3 or 4 for the account and seat counts.
