Our take: StoryChief suits small teams and agencies that want planning, approvals and multichannel publishing in one place, and the $69 tier is a low-risk way to try it. Skip it if you need heavy social scheduling, deep SEO tooling, or AI image and video generation included. Those are either capped by tier or sold as a paid add-on.

What we like

  • Calendar, drafting, approvals and publishing in one tool
  • Publishes natively to 30+ channels, including WordPress, Webflow and LinkedIn
  • Workspaces keep client brands, voices and channels separate
  • Four lifetime tiers that you can move between

Watch out for

  • Tier 1 allows 1 workspace, 1 user and 6 social channels
  • AI image and video generation is a paid add-on, not part of the deal
  • Reviewers mention limited social integrations and a basic SEO tool

What StoryChief is

StoryChief is a content marketing platform. It covers planning, writing, approving and publishing in one place. The pitch in the demo video is that writing a post is now quick, but getting it approved, polished and published on every channel still takes too long.

StoryChief product screen

This isn’t a brand-new product. According to the video, AppSumo first offered StoryChief in 2018, and this is a return with more features. The listing says existing 2018 lifetime customers can upgrade to the new tiers without creating a new account.

We haven’t tested StoryChief hands-on. Everything below comes from the AppSumo listing and the demo video.

Key features

Here is what the listing and video describe:

  • Content calendar: fill it from a URL, a webinar or other material, and move items by drag and drop.
  • AI agent: it works from your brand voice, audience and competitors, according to the video.
  • MCP support: work with compatible assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude while managing content in StoryChief.
  • SEO/GEO scoring: the video shows a score for Google and AI search that rises as you edit.
  • Approvals: colleagues or clients approve inside the draft, and the video says nothing publishes without a human.
  • Campaigns: bundle content on one topic under a single approval.
  • Multichannel publishing: 30+ native channels, including WordPress, Webflow, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Mailchimp.
  • Broadcasts: send content by email to colleagues or clients.
  • Analytics and API access: included in all tiers, per the listing.

What the demo video shows

The video is playful marketing, but it does walk through a workflow.

It starts at the content calendar, where the AI agent helps fill it. Drafts can also arrive from Claude or ChatGPT through MCP, which the video says removes copy and paste.

Next you organize the calendar and group related pieces into a campaign. You refine the draft with your team while a score for Google and AI search updates. A colleague or client approves in the draft.

After approval, the article goes to your website. The video names WordPress, Webflow, Wix and Shopify. You can then turn the article into social posts for each network and schedule them together. A typo fixed after publishing updates everywhere, according to the video.

The video also shows a feature for checking whether AI answers mention your brand or a competitor. You can send that gap to the agent to fix. It adds that StoryChief gives weekly suggestions on what to fix and write next.

For agencies, each client gets a separate workspace with its own brand voice and channels. The demo shows no real dashboards or output quality, so judge that for yourself before relying on it.

Pricing and the AppSumo deal

The deal is a lifetime license with four tiers. All include future plan updates. You can upgrade or downgrade between tiers, and there are no codes or stacking.

Tier Price (list) Workspaces Users per workspace Articles/month Social channels AI credits/month Broadcasts/month
1 $69 ($354) 1 1 25 6 8,000 5
2 $179 ($708) 2 5 50 8 15,000 10
3 $349 ($1,416) 7 7 75 10 20,000 10
4 $699 ($3,348) 15 15 100 15 25,000 10

Articles, social channels, AI credits and broadcasts are all per workspace. AI visibility prompts, which cover the AI-answer tracking, are only included on tiers 3 and 4, at 10 per month per workspace.

The limits to watch:

  • Tier 1 is a single-user, single-workspace plan.
  • AI credits refresh monthly and cover text generation and agent usage.
  • Image and video generation is a separate in-app add-on, and those credits don’t renew.
  • Extra AI credits can be bought in the app.
  • You must activate your license within 60 days of purchase.
  • The deal ends October 30, 2026.

AppSumo shows 52 reviews averaging 4.71 out of 5. AppSumo’s own summary praises the AI drafting, multichannel publishing, interface and support. It also notes limits on social integrations and a basic SEO tool. That summary is marketing copy, so treat it with care.

Who it’s for (and who should skip it)

A good fit:

  • Solo marketers or small businesses that publish to a website and several social channels and want one workflow.
  • Agencies that need separate workspaces per client. Tiers 2 to 4 add more.
  • Teams that need client or colleague approval before anything goes live.
  • People who already draft in ChatGPT or Claude and want those drafts to flow into a publishing tool.

Consider skipping if:

  • You need advanced SEO tooling. Buyers describe the SEO tool as basic.
  • You depend on a specific social integration. The listing says channel counts depend on your tier, and reviewers mention integration limits.
  • You want AI image and video generation included. It costs extra.
  • You publish more than 25 articles a month, or have several teammates, and don’t want to pay for a higher tier.

StoryChief price and limits

Because the license is lifetime and tier changes are allowed, the $69 tier is an inexpensive way to test the workflow. Check your channels and monthly volume against the table before you buy.
