Our take: Buy Tier 1 or 2 if you already run outreach in a sequencer and want to stop paying per lead. Skip it if you want a CRM or email sending in the same tool, or if you need proven email accuracy, because the listing gives no accuracy or bounce figures. The 60-day refund window makes a cheap test easy.

What we like

  • Fixed allowances for life with no credits to buy
  • Large database: 693M people, 63M companies, 366M with email
  • Works through Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor, plus a REST API and CSV export
  • 60-day refund and the option to move up tiers later

Watch out for

  • Data only, so no CRM, sequencer or email sending
  • Tier 1 caps CSV export at 5K rows a day and phone reveals at 100 a month
  • No stated accuracy or bounce rates, and AppSumo's own summary mentions occasional data quality issues

You’ve got a list of 200 founders you’d like to email, a sequencer you already pay for, and a nagging problem: finding and checking the contact details costs credits, and the credits run out faster than the month does. That’s the itch LeadOcean is aimed at. It’s a B2B contact and company database, and right now it’s sold on AppSumo as a lifetime deal starting at $49.

A database, and nothing else

The first thing to understand is what LeadOcean refuses to be. The listing says plainly that it is only the data. It isn’t a CRM, it isn’t a sequencer, and the company says it won’t become either one.

I like that honesty. Apollo bundles data with its own CRM and sequencer. Clay orchestrates other providers and charges per lookup. LeadOcean sits underneath whatever you already run and feeds it.

The size is the headline. According to the listing, there are 693 million people profiles and 63 million companies, with job titles, seniority, work history and firmographics. Of those people, 366 million have an email address and 166 million have a phone number. That’s a bit over half with email and roughly a quarter with a phone. So plenty of searches will surface people you can’t email, which is normal for any database but worth remembering when you size a campaign.

Searching, enriching and the Claude angle

There are two core jobs. Search lets you filter by job title, company, location, industry, seniority “and more”. The listing doesn’t give the full filter list, so check that your niche is actually filterable before you buy. Enrichment takes a LinkedIn URL, a work email or an existing contact and fills in current role, company data, work history and skills, plus work emails and phone numbers.

The unusual part is the AI access. You add https://api.leadocean.io/mcp as a remote MCP server in Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, sign in with your LeadOcean account, and ask for leads in plain English. No key to paste. If you code, the same plan works over a REST API, and you can export to CSV.

That’s convenient for someone who already lives in a chat window. It doesn’t change the quality of the underlying data, though, and the listing shows no demo of how well natural-language prompts translate into filters.

What “no credits” really means

No credits doesn’t mean no limits. You get a fixed allowance that resets on a schedule, and unused amounts don’t roll over. Go over and requests fail with a 429 error and a Retry-After header. You’re never charged extra, which is a fair design.

Here’s how a record is counted. Every person or company returned in a search is one search result, so a page of 25 people uses 25. One enrichment is one enrichment. One phone reveal is one reveal. The listing’s limits table is garbled in places, so I’m reading it alongside the FAQ. Treat these numbers as my best reading and confirm them on the checkout page:

  • Tier 1, $49: 20K search records and 2K enrichments per 5 hours (weekly caps of 100K and 10K), 100 phone reveals a month, 5K CSV rows a day, 5 requests per second, one API key, email support.
  • Tier 2, $199: 50K searches and 5K enrichments per 5 hours (weekly 250K and 25K), 500 phone reveals, 10K CSV rows a day, 25 RPS.
  • Tier 3, $399: 100K searches and 10K enrichments per 5 hours (weekly 500K and 50K), 1,500 phone reveals, 25K CSV rows a day, 50 RPS, priority support.
  • Tier 4, $999: 150K searches and 20K enrichments per 5 hours (weekly 750K and 100K), 5,000 phone reveals, 50K CSV rows a day, 100 RPS.
  • Tier 5, $1,999: 25M searches a month, 1M enrichments a day, 15,000 phone reveals, 150K CSV rows a day, 200 RPS.

The number that will bite first on Tier 1 isn’t search volume. It’s the 5K-row daily CSV export. Even with 100K weekly search records, you can only pull 5,000 rows out per day. And 100 phone reveals a month is thin if you plan to cold call.

The listing also mentions a fair-use pace, but the text cuts off before explaining it. That’s a gap, since “lifetime” deals live or die on the fine print.

The part I’d be cautious about

AppSumo’s review summary praises the database and the no-credit model, then admits to occasional data quality issues and a need to verify contact details. I’d take that second part seriously. The listing promises “verified work emails” but gives no accuracy rate, bounce rate or refresh schedule.

To its credit, LeadOcean says it combines 20+ licensed and proprietary sources, names the answering dataset in an X-Source header, and returns unknown fields empty rather than guessed. Anyone can request removal at leadocean.io/legal/remove and the record is suppressed immediately. Those are good signs. They aren’t a substitute for running your own emails through a verifier.

The 4.89 average from 80 AppSumo reviews is encouraging, but it’s a small sample on a platform where early buyers tend to be generous. The listing also doesn’t say how long the company has been operating or what its roadmap looks like, beyond “all future plan updates” being included.

Picking a tier, and who should walk away

For a solo founder or a small team sending a few hundred emails a week, Tier 1 looks like enough to find out whether the data works for your market. Tier 2 makes sense if you hit the export ceiling. The upper tiers are agency territory. Tier 5 matches the company’s $497 a month Agency plan and is limited in quantity, so at $1,999 you’re paying roughly four months of that plan for lifetime access. Ignore the “list prices” in the listing, which look inflated.

You can upgrade or downgrade between the five tiers from your AppSumo account, and limits update right away. You must activate your license within 60 days of purchase, and there’s a 60-day refund window for any reason.

Skip this deal if you want one tool that finds leads, sends the emails and tracks replies. Skip it if your outreach depends on guaranteed deliverability and you won’t verify addresses yourself. And skip it if you don’t have an outbound process yet, because a big database won’t create one.

LeadOcean price and limits

If you do buy, use the refund window deliberately. Pull a few hundred contacts from the niche you actually sell to, run the emails through your verifier, and check the bounce rate before day 60.

Frequently asked questions

Does LeadOcean send emails or manage deals?

No. The listing says it is only the data. It isn't a CRM or a sequencer and won't become one, so you'd pair it with the tools you already use.

Are there really no credits?

Correct, but there are usage caps. Searches and enrichments reset on a schedule (every 5 hours on Tiers 1 to 4), phone reveals reset monthly, and unused allowance doesn't roll over. Hitting a cap returns a 429 error until the window resets, with no extra charge.

Which tier should a small business pick?

Tier 1 at $49 looks fine for a solo founder testing outbound. Tier 2 at $199 doubles the CSV export limit and raises phone reveals to 500 a month. The higher tiers mostly suit agencies pulling large lists.
