Lifetime Deal
Our take: Buy it if you make Instagram Reels often and want a cheap swipe file of openers with real view counts. Skip it if you post mainly on TikTok or YouTube, need an API, or want a full social media suite, because the listing only covers Instagram today.
You’ve got a Reel to film tomorrow and a blank spot where the first three seconds should be. So you scroll Instagram for twenty minutes, screenshot a few openers, and still aren’t sure whether any of them actually performed. That’s the gap Hookest is trying to fill.

Hookest is a searchable library of video hooks, which the listing defines as the opening moment of a video, usually the first 3 seconds, built to stop someone from scrolling. Instead of hunting through your feed, you search a collection and see how each hook did.
The core of the product is the Viral Hook Library. You can search by keyword, caption or creator, and filter by category. The listing’s FAQ adds country and date to the filters. You can sort by newest or by views, and each hook shows performance data.
The view-sorting is the part I’d care about most. A swipe file is only useful if you know which examples worked, and sorting by views gets you to the strong ones quickly. The listing says the data is “real,” but it doesn’t say how often the library updates or how many hooks are in it. That’s a gap, because a library of a few hundred hooks and one of tens of thousands are very different purchases.
There’s also a Hook Score and what the listing calls key insights, meant to show what makes a hook effective. We can’t judge how useful those scores are from marketing copy. Treat them as a starting point for your own judgment, not a verdict.
Competitor Listening is the second pillar, and it’s flagged as a plan feature in the deal. You track Instagram competitors, get notified when one of their posts goes viral, and compare views and engagement.
For a small business, this is the more practical feature. If a rival’s Reel suddenly takes off, you’d rather hear about it that day than three weeks later. The listing doesn’t say how many competitors you can follow, how quickly alerts arrive, or whether alerts come by email or in the app. Ask before you rely on it.
Trend Radar is lighter. According to the FAQ, it sends weekly updates with fresh hook ideas and trending examples. Weekly means it’s an inspiration feed, not a live monitoring tool.

Hookest connects to ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. The listing says you can use them to discover viral hooks and analyze what makes them work. The deal also includes an MCP server, which lets an AI assistant query Hookest directly.
This is useful if you already work inside one of those assistants. You could ask it to pull recent hooks in your category and then draft openers for your next video, without bouncing between tabs.
There are two things to keep in mind:
The listing also says the public API is not available yet and isn’t part of this deal. If you were hoping to wire Hookest into your own tools, MCP is all you get for now.
The lifetime deal is a single tier at $39, down from a $108 list price. It includes lifetime access and all future plan updates. You must redeem your code within 60 days of purchase, and the deal is not stackable, so buying extra codes won’t raise any limits.
The price is low enough that the risk is modest. Even so, this is a young product. The listing mentions future platforms and a future API, and promises like that are not features. Buy for what’s there today, which is Instagram.
The 50 downloads a day is generous for most creators and tight for an agency pulling references for many clients. The “future plan updates” line is also vague. It doesn’t say whether new higher tiers or platforms would be covered for lifetime buyers, so don’t assume they will be.
AppSumo lists vidIQ and BuzzSumo as alternatives. That comparison flatters Hookest a little. Those tools cover far more ground, and Hookest is a narrow tool for hooks and Instagram competitors. The pitch here is focus, not breadth.
Skip Hookest if your audience lives on TikTok, YouTube or LinkedIn. Instagram-only means most of the value disappears for you until the other platforms actually ship.
Skip it if you want scheduling, analytics for your own account or a general content planner. It’s not in the listed features, and the category label of social media management oversells what’s described.
Developers and agencies who need an API should also pass. It isn’t included, and the listing only says early access is being prepared.

The best fit is a solo creator or small-business owner who posts Reels regularly, gets stuck on openers, and wants to see what’s working in their niche. For $39 and a 60-day redemption window, that’s a reasonable, low-stakes bet, as long as you check the library in your own niche before the window closes and make sure there’s enough in it to be worth using.
Not yet. According to the listing, Hookest currently focuses on Instagram content, including Reels. The team says it's working on TikTok and YouTube Shorts, but no dates are given, so don't buy based on that promise.
You can download up to 50 hook videos per day, and downloads made through MCP count toward the same daily limit. The listing also says downloading doesn't give you permission to republish a video, so treat them as reference material.
No. The listing says API access isn't part of the current lifetime deal and that the public API isn't available yet. The deal does include an MCP server, which is the way to connect Hookest to AI tools.
