Picture a dental practice with two locations. The owner wants more nearby patients to find them and has budget for exactly one lifetime deal this month. Local Rank Tracker and Recometric both promise to help, but they point at different places. One watches Google Maps. The other watches what ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude say about you.

Local Rank Tracker and Recometric side by side

That difference should decide this for you, so let’s start there.

Two different places to be found

Local Rank Tracker, also called RC Local and made by Rating Captain, is built around your Google Business Profile. According to the listing, its AI writes posts, replies to reviews, optimizes the profile and tracks your keyword rankings on Google Maps. It does work for you and also reports on it.

Recometric doesn’t touch your listings at all. It sends customer-style questions to four AI assistants, with live web search on, and records whether you’re named, where you sit in a ranked answer and whether the tone is positive. The questions never include your business name, so a mention has to be earned. The result is a 0 to 100 score plus a list of fixes.

Both listings name Ahrefs and SEMrush as alternatives. Neither one replaces them. Recometric’s own FAQ admits as much, saying SEO tools track Google rankings and this measures something separate.

What you’d actually do with each one

With Local Rank Tracker you connect one or more Google Business Profiles, group locations and run them from one dashboard. An AI agent drafts review replies in your brand’s voice and publishes posts. You can approve each reply with one click or let it run on its own. The listing also promises an alert about a negative review within minutes.

The rank tracking side is thinner on detail. The listing doesn’t say how often ranks refresh, how the map or grid view works, or which competitors you can compare against. AppSumo’s own summary says competitor insights and more integrations are still being added. That’s a real gap for a tool whose job includes ranking.

Recometric gives you a report rather than a workflow. A scan takes a few minutes and includes a website audit covering schema markup, meta descriptions, mobile viewport and name, address and phone consistency. The fixes come back in plain English, ordered by what the measurement found.

I’d be cautious about the claim that you need no agency to act on them. Adding schema markup will still need whoever looks after your site, and the listing shows no demo to judge how specific the advice is.

How much you can trust the numbers

Recometric makes the stronger case here, at least on paper. A missing assistant answer carries no weight instead of counting as zero, and if fewer than all four answer you get a likely range. Every input is stored, so the score can be rebuilt without an AI call or access to their code. The Google part of the score is capped at 30%.

The catch is the other 70%, which follows a formula the listing doesn’t describe. And nothing in the listing shows that a higher score brings in customers. AI answers also shift from day to day, so treat the score as a direction finder.

Local Rank Tracker leans on social proof instead. AppSumo shows 136 reviews averaging 3.99 out of 5, which is decent, not stellar. The summary mentions earlier stability problems that the team says it has fixed, plus some minor bugs in post scheduling. That summary is marketing copy, so read it with some salt.

We haven’t used either tool. Everything here comes from the listings.

Pricing and tier limits

Local Rank Tracker has four lifetime tiers: $149 (list $699), $239 (list $1,199), $419 (list $2,099) and $1,199 (list $5,999). The limits scale like this:

  • AI credits per month: 15,000 / 5,000 / 2,500 / 300
  • Keywords: 1,000 / 300 / 150 / 20
  • Locations: unlimited / 50 / 25 / 5

Those appear to run from the top tier down to $149, which is our reading, so confirm it at checkout. The worrying part is the feature grid. The last column shows ‘false’ for the AI agent, MCP, alerts, bulk management, reports and even the keyword rank tracker, yet the same grid lists 20 keywords. If that column is the $149 tier, the entry price buys far less than the pitch suggests. White-label reports and guest accounts look limited to the top two tiers. The listing also mentions five tiers while showing four.

Recometric has three tiers. Tier 1 is $49 (list $490) with a daily 12-check scan and 10 extra scan credits, but no competitor mentions, archive, alerts feed or priority support. Tier 2 is $399 (list $990) and adds all of those, plus extra credits you can buy any time. Tier 3 is $999 (list $1,490) with the same features as tier 2, except the full scan is weekly.

Read that again. The priciest plan scans less often than the other two, and the listing never explains why. Ask before you spend $999.

The Recometric listing also doesn’t say how many businesses one license covers or what extra credits cost. Both deals require activating your license within 60 days. Local Rank Tracker adds a 60-day money-back guarantee through AppSumo. The Recometric information we have mentions no refund window, so check that before buying.

Who should pick which

Pick Local Rank Tracker if your problem is the day-to-day upkeep of Google profiles. A restaurant, clinic or shop owner who never posts or answers reviews gets the most from the AI agent. A freelancer with several client locations gets more from the higher tiers, with white-label reports and guest access.

Be realistic about the budget, though. The $149 tier looks like a trap until the grid is clarified, so plan around $239 or more if you want working features, and use the refund window to find out.

Pick Recometric if you already have a decent Google presence and wonder if AI assistants mention you at all. The $49 tier is a low-risk way to get a baseline, a score and a fix list. Without competitor tracking, though, a score has no context. Is 42 bad for your market, or normal? Tier 1 can’t say, and the jump to $399 is steep for a young product.

Who should pick Local Rank Tracker or Recometric

If you can only afford one and you run a single local business, let the pain decide. If you’re invisible on Maps or your reviews sit unanswered, Local Rank Tracker addresses that directly. If you’re curious about AI recommendations, try Recometric’s free scan first, since it needs no credit card, and only then decide if $49 is worth it.
