Our take: Buy it if you run paid ads or an agency and can't say which campaign produced which enquiry. Skip it if you need ecommerce revenue tracking, heavy traffic on the $59 tier, or proof that the product has staying power. It's a young tool, so start with the entry tier.

What we like

  • Ties each form enquiry to its ad, keyword, campaign or site
  • Unlimited websites on every tier, useful for agencies
  • Works with most form builders without editing your forms
  • AI setup for GA4 and Tag Manager needs your approval before anything goes live

Watch out for

  • The $59 tier allows only 1,000 leads and 10,000 page views a month, with no Zapier or CRM links
  • AI setup is limited to 5 messages a month on the entry tier
  • Newer product with no independent track record in the listing

You spend money on Google Ads, a few people fill in your contact form, and then someone asks which campaign actually brought them in. Analytics tells you about clicks. Your inbox tells you about enquiries. Connecting the two is the part that usually gets skipped.

SourceXray product screen

SourceXray is built for that gap. It’s a lead source tracker for small businesses and agencies, and AppSumo is selling it as a lifetime deal starting at $59 (list price $348). We haven’t used it ourselves, so everything below comes from the listing. Treat the claims as the seller’s, and read the limits closely.

What it actually tracks

The core idea is simple. You add one line of code to your site, and every form enquiry gets tagged with where the person came from. That can be an ad, a keyword, a campaign or another website. The listing says it also records how someone first found you, even weeks before they got in touch, along with every visit in between.

That first-touch detail matters. Plenty of leads don’t convert on the first visit. They find you through a search, leave, come back from an email a fortnight later, and then fill in the form. Seeing the whole path is more useful than seeing only the last click.

Paid traffic gets extra attention. The listing promises the exact Google Ads and Microsoft Ads keyword behind each paid lead. Leads from ChatGPT and other AI tools get their own channel too, which is a small but sensible touch given how many people now ask a chatbot for recommendations.

Forms, sites and setup

The compatibility list is long. It names Gravity Forms, Elementor, Contact Form 7, WPForms, Ninja Forms, Fluent Forms, Formidable, Divi, Webflow, Shopify contact forms, HubSpot forms, Typeform, Tally, Jotform and plain HTML forms. According to the listing, your forms don’t need changes. You’d only add hidden fields if you want the source to appear inside your form’s own notification emails.

Sites are covered just as widely: WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, Squarespace, Wix, Framer and custom builds, including single page apps. You can paste the code, install through Google Tag Manager, or use the WordPress plugin.

There’s also an AI setup assistant. You type something like “track every enquiry as a lead in GA4” and it builds the Tag Manager tags and GA4 key events. The listing says nothing goes live until you test and approve it, you can undo any change in one click, and it works in its own labelled Tag Manager workspace without touching your existing tags. That’s a careful design, and we’d want it if we were letting AI near a live tag container. The catch is the message cap, which we’ll get to.

Beyond lead sources

SourceXray also works as a lightweight analytics tool. You get a live view of who’s on your site right now, where they came from and which pages they view. You can filter that stream to only the visits that became leads. Calls, emails and WhatsApp clicks are tracked from day one, and you can add your own goals. Funnels show where people drop off before an enquiry.

You can mark leads as qualified or won, which is the feature we’d care about most. A campaign that brings 50 enquiries from people who never buy is worse than one that brings 8 who do. Without that outcome marking, source tracking only tells you about volume.

Leads can go to your inbox, Slack, Teams, Google Chat or Discord. They can also be sent back to Google Ads and Meta as conversions. Zapier, Make, webhooks, HubSpot and GoHighLevel are held back for stacked codes, which brings us to the pricing.

The tiers and where they pinch

There are five tiers, and you can stack up to 5 codes. Every tier includes unlimited websites, but your monthly leads and page views are shared across them. You must redeem your code within 60 days of purchase, and the listing promises all future plan updates.

The listing’s feature table is ordered from largest to smallest, which doesn’t match the order of the price tiers. Going by the prices and the FAQ’s note about stacking, this is how we read it:

  • $59: 1,000 leads and 10,000 page views a month, 5 AI messages, 12 months of lead history, no Zapier, CRM or webhooks.
  • $118: 5,000 leads, 25,000 page views, 15 AI messages, 24 months of history, integrations included.
  • $177: 15,000 leads, 50,000 page views, 40 AI messages.
  • $236: 40,000 leads, 100,000 page views, 60 AI messages.
  • $295: 100,000 leads, 200,000 page views, 80 AI messages.

Check that against the checkout page before you pay, because the table’s ordering is confusing and we’re inferring the mapping.

The entry tier is where most small businesses will land, and it’s tight. Ten thousand page views a month disappears fast on a site with any real traffic. When you hit the limit, visitor stats pause until the next month, though leads and alerts keep working. Five AI messages is also barely enough to set up a few goals and fix one mistake.

For a business that wants to push leads into HubSpot or GoHighLevel, the real starting price is $118, not $59. That’s still cheap against the $696 list price, but it’s worth knowing before you click.

Privacy and data retention

The privacy claims are reasonable on paper. No IP addresses are stored, the country comes from the visitor’s time zone, and there’s no fingerprinting or third-party cookies. It can wait for cookie consent, you can turn off storing contact details, and a Data Processing Addendum is available.

Retention is where you should look closely. Leads are kept for 12 months on the entry tier and 24 on the rest. Single visits in the live stream are kept for 90 days, after which only daily totals remain. If you want to look back over several years of lead history, this isn’t the place.

Who should skip it

If you don’t run ads and get a handful of enquiries a month, the problem SourceXray solves may not be yours. Your inbox and a spreadsheet might do.

If you sell online, note that the listing talks about enquiries, forms and leads. It doesn’t mention purchase or revenue tracking, so ecommerce stores shouldn’t assume it fits. Agencies are the clearer match, since unlimited websites and per-client alert routing are included, but the shared lead and page view pool means a few busy clients can use up a tier quickly.

SourceXray price and limits

Then there’s the age of the product. The listing gives no founding date, customer count or roadmap, and we found no product video to judge the interface by. Lifetime deals depend on the company surviving, so we’d start at the lowest tier you can live with and add codes once you’ve seen it work on your own site.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use SourceXray instead of Google Analytics?

The listing says yes. It shows visitors, pages, sources, goals and funnels on its own. If you run ads, though, it recommends keeping GA4, and its AI Tracking Setup can configure GA4 for you.

Do I need to stack codes?

Only if you want Zapier, Make, webhooks, HubSpot or GoHighLevel. According to the listing, those need 2 or more codes. A single code gets you email, Slack, Teams, Google Chat and Discord alerts, plus Google Ads and Meta conversions.

What happens if I hit my page view limit?

Visitor stats pause until the next month. Leads, alerts and integrations aren't limited by page views, according to the listing.
